BATON ROUGE, La. — August 28, 2026 — After two days of introductions, interviews and competition, the 2026 Battle on the Bluff High School Jamboree concluded Friday night with three additional matchups at Southern University’s A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Friday’s schedule featured:

Istrouma vs. McKinley

Scotlandville vs. Liberty

Glen Oaks vs. Capitol

The second night continued the atmosphere established during Thursday’s opening games as another group of schools took its turn beneath the lights.

For the teams involved, the jamboree represented more than an exhibition.

It was an opportunity to see offseason preparation come to life in a competitive environment and to identify areas of strength before the regular season began. Players had the chance to compete against someone other than their own teammates, while coaching staffs were able to evaluate their programs in real game situations.

For the people in the stands, Friday offered another evening of school pride and community.

Fans representing Istrouma, McKinley, Scotlandville, Liberty, Glen Oaks and Capitol filled the stadium throughout the night as each school brought its own personality and energy to the event.

The Battle on the Bluff also served as a reminder of the role high school sports continue to play throughout Baton Rouge.

Football may have been at the center of the weekend, but the jamboree brought together athletes, coaches, students, parents, alumni, school personnel, media teams and supporters from communities across the parish.

That sense of community extended beyond the field.

Throughout both nights, BlackHouse Sports documented the people and moments that helped tell the complete story of the jamboree. The coverage included game action, athletes, sideline moments, fans and the personalities that created the atmosphere inside A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Students from SLV Hornets TV were a major part of the weekend’s media coverage, gaining hands-on experience in photography, videography, interviewing and sports production while covering one of the area’s early-season high school football events.

From Wednesday’s press conference at the Southern University Field House to the final action Friday night, the 2026 EBR Jamboree offered an early glimpse into another season of Baton Rouge high school football.

The jamboree was over.

The season was just beginning.
