EBR Jamboree 2026: Battle on the Bluff Kicked Off With Three Opening-Night Matchups
BATON ROUGE, La. — August 27, 2026 — High school football returned to A.W. Mumford Stadium Thursday night as the 2026 Battle on the Bluff High School Jamboree officially got underway at Southern University.
After Wednesday’s press conference introduced many of the athletes and programs participating in the event, opening night gave them the opportunity to finally take the field.

Three matchups highlighted the first night of action:
Belaire vs. Broadmoor
Woodlawn vs. Madison Prep
Northeast vs. Tara
From the first kickoff through the final game of the evening, the stadium provided a showcase for football programs from across the Baton Rouge area.
For many of the student-athletes, Thursday marked their first opportunity of the new season to compete beneath the lights in front of fans, classmates, coaches and family members.
The jamboree setting offered each program an opportunity to evaluate its progress before the regular season while giving supporters an early look at the teams they would be following throughout the fall.
But the Battle on the Bluff extended beyond what happened between the sidelines.
The atmosphere surrounding the games reflected the larger culture of high school football in Baton Rouge. Students filled the stands in school colors, families supported their athletes from the crowd, cheerleaders energized their respective sidelines and school communities had another opportunity to come together around their programs.
The event also created a meeting point for different parts of the city.
Schools that would normally spend much of the season competing in separate environments shared one stadium and one stage Thursday evening, creating an atmosphere that showcased the reach of high school athletics throughout East Baton Rouge Parish.
Throughout the night, SLV Hornets TV, powered by BlackHouse Sports, captured the action and atmosphere from inside A.W. Mumford Stadium — from athletes preparing on the sidelines to game action, celebrations, supporters and moments away from the football itself.
The opening night was only half of the story.
Three more matchups awaited on Friday as the Battle on the Bluff returned to A.W. Mumford Stadium for its second and final night.
